How to Install Slab Stone Correctly

Proper slab stone installation ensures durability and aesthetics. Here’s a simplified guide:

1. Surface Preparation: Ensure the base (floor or wall) is clean, flat, and structurally sound. Any unevenness can lead to cracks.

2. Adhesive Application: Use a high-quality polymer-modified thin-set mortar. Apply it evenly on the substrate with a notched trowel, then back-butter the slab for full coverage and a stronger bond.

3. Laying the Slabs: Carefully place each slab, using a slight twisting motion to press it into the adhesive. This helps eliminate air pockets.

4. Leveling System: Immediately use a leveling system to align the slabs and maintain even joints. Check for flatness across the surface.

5. Grouting: After the adhesive cures (usually 24-48 hours), apply grout. For large-format slabs, a flexible, color-matched grout is recommended. Clean excess grout before it hardens.
